The BISSELL Pro Cycling Team is heading for 336 miles of mountainous racing at the Tour of Utah August 13th – 17th, 2008. The 5-day, 5-stage NRC race consists of 30,000 feet of climbing along the Wasatch Mountain Range and includes downtown venues and mountain top finishes. Representing BISSELL will be team leader and Utah resident, Burke Swindlehurst, and supporting Burke will be Tom Zirbel, Aaron Olson, Ted King, Jeremy Vennell, Omer Kem, and Garrett Peltonen. Contesting the race will be the top North American teams of BMC, Health Net, Jittery Joes, Garmin-Chipotle, Symmetrics, Team Type 1, and Toyota United and 2 Utah teams, American RADD and the Utah All-Stars, a composite team of Utah’s best amateurs. The tour starts with the Sanpete Road Race which is 101 miles of rolling terrain in central Utah. The climbing increases the next day with 84 miles from Ogden to Salt Lake and 9960 feet of climbing. Stage 3 takes the racers to downtown Salt Lake for a 90 minute criterium. This flat course is a mile circuit with 4 corners and promises to be fast. The 98 mile queen stage is on Saturday and includes 14,778 feet of climbing with 5 fierce ascents and a mountain top finish at Snowbird. The final day is an 18 mile time trial on an out-and-back course with 650 feet of climbing. The fast and tough time trial will conclude the Tour of Utah with much excitement.
