There was action from the start as a group broke away early in today’s crit.  HealthNet rode the front protecting the race leader, Rory Sutherland, and were not too concerned when the early group got up the road. However, Teddy King bridged the break causing HealthNet to become more attentive to the time gap. Teddy’s goal was to gain the second that he needed to move ahead of Michael Creed into 4th place. Teddy and Doug Ollerenshaw who wanted to secure the sprinter’s jersey were the main workers in the break. HealthNet was forced to get down to work when the time gap got up to 45 seconds, and they sacrificed most of their riders in the process. Teddy was in the first group to come across the line and easily gained the time needed to move into 4th place. Ben finished 20 seconds back with Sutherland and Lill to maintain his 3rd overall.
