The men’s 177K Tour de Leelanau got underway as dark skies rolled into northern Michigan. The BISSELL Pro Cycling Team was eager to ride for their BISSELL home crowd and put everything out there to take the win. The men’s group significantly splintered after the third KOM, Tower Climb. The break included about 15 riders including Ben Jacques-Maynes, Teddy King, Graham Howard, and Aaron Olson. With 37K to go, this group split into three. The lead group consisted of 2 BISSELL riders, Ben and Teddy, 2 BMC riders, Taylor Tolleson and Darren Lill, and 1 Successful Living rider, Charles Dion. Team Director, Glen Mitchell, said "Charles Dion was the main threat in the break and both BISSELL and BMC were doing everything to shake him out of this lead group. At the end of the grueling course, the lead group was still intact but all had been heavily taxed with their efforts". In the end Taylor, Ben, Teddy, and Charles approached the punishing uphill finish together. Taylor inched out a victory at the line with Ben taking 2nd and Teddy 3rd. What started as a stormy day ended under bright sunshine, and the BISSELL Pro Cycling Team rode a great tactical race.
