The breakaway successfully stayed away through the KOM and sprint competitions. Tom won the second of the day's sprints. Just into the first of the six finishing circuits, Tom attacked. He rode incredibly strong and gave the fans and spectators an amazingly exciting final 30 miles of the racing. Tom was caught by a group of 4 in the final circuit, but he was able to stay with the group to the finish. Tom got a fifth place finish but accumulated many new fans as he battled through an epic day of racing.
