O’BEE PODIUMS AT PHILLY FOR THE SECOND YEAR IN A ROW TAKING THIRD
BISSELL RIDES A GREAT RACE OF TACTICS AND SUPPORT

The BISSELL Pro Cycling Team’s day of amazing racing was capped off with Kirk O’Bee’s outstanding third place finish. The Philadelphia International Championship marks one of America’s most respected and loved races and this year was no exception to the tough and thrilling racing that takes place in Philly. Right from the start, the action began with an attack by US National rider, Dan Holloway. Holloway took off in one of the three opening parade laps and completed over 55 miles of racing before being joined by Andrew Talansky (Amore Vita). The two continued on for another hour before Holloway dropped Talansky. Meanwhile there was a significant split in the peloton and out of that group 3 riders attacked including BISSELL’s Tom Zirbel, Daniel Oss (Liquigas), and Valeri Kobzaranko (Team Type 1). The new breakaway eventually caught and passed Holloway with 80 miles left of racing. The threat of Zirbel, Oss, and Kobzaranko caused a lot of action in the peloton with riders attempting to bridge. Ben Jacques-Maynes, Pete Latham, Frank Pipp, and Kirk O’Bee were all in the action. Under the significant pressure of a Columbia led chase, the three man break began to fall apart with the chasers catching the final man in the breakaway, Oss, just 6 miles from the finish. On the final lap just before the group approached Logan Circle, there was a crash which created disorder heading into the finish. Those able to get through the chaos charged the finish. Andre Greipal (Columbia) took the win in front of his teammate, Greg Henderson, and Kirk came through for third.
