Philadelphia International Championship Pre-Race Report
|
|
The 8 man BISSELL roster of Ben Jacques-Maynes, Tom Zirbel, Andy Jacques-Maynes, Kirk O’Bee, Frank Pipp, Jeremy Vennell, Pete Latham, and Cody O’Reilly have assembled and are ready to rock the 25th running of the Philadelphia International Championship. Friday was a travel day for some of the crew, but 4 BISSELL riders including Frank, Kirk, Jeremy and Pete were guests of honor at Bike King Bicycle shop in Morrisville, PA. Unfortunately, the weather interrupted the plans for a group ride with Bike King’s preferred customers so the group sat down for casual conversation, photos, and lunch. Owner, Ed Preston, is himself a cyclist and excited to have recently partnered with Pinarello. Saturday the skies have cleared and the team went out this morning for a couple of laps and to reacquaint themselves with the notorious Manayunk Wall. This afternoon was time for the team presentation. Tomorrow calls for sunny skies and temperatures in the low 80’s. The race will challenge the riders with the significant threat of Manayunk Wall. If the group can stay together through the 10 laps of the 14.4 mile circuit, the sprinters will go head to head on the 3 finishing laps of Lemon Hill and Logan Circle. Kirk comes back to Philly after a great race here last year where he finished 2nd. Let’s race!
